Belief in Brief

There is one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

This one God wrote a book, the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments. God’s book is directly inspired by God and inerrant in the original documents. It is the supreme and final authority of all of life and belief.

Humanity was created in the image of God. But, we turned from God and disobeyed and we are not righteous and sinless like God is. Therefore, we have earned not only physical death, but also separation from God for eternity. All people are born enemies of God and do and think all kinds of wrong and evil things and so all of us are rightly condemned by God.

The Son, Jesus Christ, was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man in one person. Jesus was holy and good and without sin in every way and He lived a life of perfect righteousness and perfect obedience to God.

Jesus’ righteousness and sinlessness and death can benefit us. He was perfect and without sin and so He did not deserve to die. But, He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice and the righteousness of God and to pay for our sin. By his death Jesus took our punishment on Himself. He sacrificed Himself in our place for our sins as our representative and substitute.

Jesus died on the cross to pay our penalty of sin, but He did not deserve to die, so He didn’t stay dead. Jesus rose from the dead as proof of who He is and He ascended into heaven and is there now as the Lord and High Priest and Advocate of His people.

All who believe who Jesus is and in what He has done, and who by faith trust in Him and His death as payment for their sins, will be forgiven and declared righteous not by their works, or efforts, or deeds, but by faith in Jesus and His work – by faith alone in Jesus.

All those who by faith trust in the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God and are placed into God’s family, the Church. God’s children are indwelt, sealed, lead and taught by the Holy Spirit who works through God’s word and God’s children.

Jesus will personally return to this earth and establish His earthly Kingdom where He will rule and reign in righteousness.

At the very last there will be a bodily resurrection of all people and there will be peace and joy and glory for those who by faith trust in Jesus, but weeping and judgment and condemnation for those who do not.
